APPRENTICE TRAINING CLASSES

Apprentice training classes take place in the spring and fall, at both the Pittsburgh and Ridgway training centers.  See the class schedule under the education tab above for the most current information.  These classes are mandatory for all apprentices.  Apprentices who do not attend the required training classes may be expelled from the program.  Apprentices are not permitted to miss class due to work.  All apprentice classes missed due to work will be considered unexcused, and you will not receive class credit.

Cross craft training is available to all members in good standing.  Training will take place on the same days/times/locations as the apprentice training classes referenced above.  You must contact the union to sign up for this training.

 OSHA

OSHA 10 Hour, OSHA 30 Hour, and MSHA New Miner courses are now available online.  You may take these classes online and get reimbursed for the cost of the course.  Contact the union for a list of authorized web sites for taking these courses.  Proof that you passed the course, and a copy of your receipt will be required for reimbursement.  Classes are still offered at the training center for those who do not want to do the training online.

 RELATED TRAINING

Any member needing AWP training, OHSA 10 or 30 Hour, MSHA, First Aid, Scaffold Safety, Confined Space, or Asbestos Awareness training should call to be scheduled for an upcoming class.  Any member wanting Welding or Blueprint Reading training will be required to bring a check in the amount of $75.00 payable to: BAC Local 9 JATF on the first day of class.  This deposit will be returned to you upon completion of the course.  You must attend seven out of nine classes in order to meet completion requirements.  If you do not pass the Welding Certification test, but do attend the required classes, your deposit will be returned to you.

If you are not working and would like to hone your welding skills, we can schedule a weekday for you to come in and practice welding at our Pittsburgh training center.
